Paris – The National Statistical Institute (ISTAT) announced that for November 2015 both exports and imports registered a positive increase (+ 3.5% and 1.4%, respectively) compared to the previous month. The rise in exports stems from a + 3.7% performance in non-EU countries and a 3.4% upturn in EU countries. The more moderate growth in imports is due to the growth in purchases from both EU (+ 1.7%) and non-EU countries (+ 1.1%). Furthermore, for the last quarter of 2015, the momentum for exports returned positive (+ 0.4%), thanks to the expansive thrust provided from the EU (+ 0.9% ), capital goods (+ 2.5%) and consumer goods (+ 0.9%). ISTAT also signals an acceleration of trade levels, compared to the average year to date, with Italy’s main trading partners: Germany (+ 8.4%) and France (+ 9.1%). A smaller and differentiated commercial expansion is instead registered for non-EU countries (+ 3.0% overall): Japan (+ 21.4%) and the USA (+ 13.2%) are growing rapidly, while the greatest decline regards Mercosur countries (-27.7%) and OPEC (10.5%).
