Moscow – Italian exports fell slightly in October (-0.4% compared to September, in the seasonally adjusted data), for a performance that is in line with that of Italy’s European partners, namely Germany (-1.2%) and France (-0.2%), while the UK suffered a significant contraction (-2.9%). On the other hand, the quarterly figures show signs of a stronger slowdown: -3% for August-October compared to the previous quarter, driven down mainly by the negative sales in non-EU countries (-5.8%). In terms of trade surplus, the overall surplus level fell by €7 billion net of energy products standing at a value of €63.3 billion, due primarily to reduced sales in capital goods, whose assets were reduced in a year by €3.6 billion. The foreign markets in which exports fell the most were in Latin America (-19.4% in October), the southern shores of the Mediterranean (-11.3%) and in Russia (-20.6 %). As a sector, mechanics, which represents about 19% of Italian exports, grows at a slower pace in January-October 2015 (+1.4% in 2015 compared with +3.4% in 2014). (9Colonne)
