(21 January 2016), Spain, Holland, and Sweden are just some of the stops along Franco D’Andrea’s European tour. The jazz artist won again this year the title of “Italian Musician of the Year” awarded during Top Jazz 2015 by the magazine Musica Jazz. D’Andrea – considered one of Italy’s best contemporary pianists – has announced the release of three albums in 2016 and will continue his tour, covering Italy and Europe. After participating, on January 30 in Milan, in the tribute evening in honor of Renato Sellani, D’Andrea will present Traditions Today on March 4 at the Terrassa Jazz Festival in Spain (Barcelona province) with Han Bennink as special guest on stage. On March 5, D’Andrea will perform in Sesto Fiorentino (FI); on March 17 in Bergamo Jazz with Bennink; on March 26 at Bimhuis Amsterdam with Bennink; on April 26, in Ascoli Piceno; on July 6 at the Suoni delle Dolomiti in Val Di Fiemme with Bennink and, finally, on August 6 in Sweden with photographer Pino Ninfa. But the real concert-event takes place on July 15, when Franco D’Andrea will perform in his hometown of Merano (BZ) with his sextet and the Electric Tree project. (Red)
