June 27 – Particle physics, robotics, health care, transport technology, and the protection of archaeological and cultural heritage are the elements of the scientific journey on offer at the exhibition “Italy of the future.” The innovative show gives the public the chance to discover Italian scientific excellence. And on the occasion of the Italian Presidency of the European Union, the show leaves Italy and goes on tour abroad. The first stop is the Tekniska Museet Museum of Science and Technology in Stockholm, where the exhibition will remain open until August 24. Completely renovated, “Italy of the future” features over 20 interactive stations dedicated to technologies or projects in which Italy plays a prominent role, and includes a new display on the origins of the universe and a workshop in which visitors can test a self-cleaning tissue that has been veneered. Thanks to a virtual installation, it will be possible to explore Etruscan culture; in the field of robotics, a small robot will showcase its abilities by climbing a vertical wall. There will also be special events on the iCub, a humanoid child robot that tests human cognition and artificial intelligence; the Plantoide, a plant robot based on the morphology of a plant’s root system, and Dustbot, a robot designed to perform services “on demand” for collecting waste.
