(22 January 2016) Sace will take part in the various events planned for the Italian visit of Iranian President Hossain Rouhan, expected for January 25-27. These include a Business Forum organized by the Iranian Chamber of Commerce and the Central Bank Iran. “On 14 July 2015 – reads a report by SACE – the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, signed between Iran, the P5 + 1 (the permanent UN Security Council member countries and Germany) and the EU, guaranteed the civil purpose of Iran’s nuclear program and acknowledged the gradual removal of the sanctions regime imposed by the UN, the US and the EU since 2006. In December, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed the full implementation of the key commitments taken by Iran. Following this confirmation, January 16 became known as Implementation Day. As agreed, the UN and the EU withdrew most of their sanctions, while the US has suspended most secondary sanctions. This agreement effectively means the return of Iran to international trade. The removal of these sanctions – stresses Sace – will bring about important changes, allowing Iran to return progressively to trade and become once again the recipient of foreign direct investments. This means that there are interesting opportunities for Italian companies in various sectors, including Oil & gas, petrochemicals, automotive, and construction. The end of the sanctions regime could also lead to a €3 billion increase in Italian exports over the next four years. The Iranian government aims to attract between $30-50 billion in FDI each year, achieving its macro-economic growth objectives. Sace – continues the statement – is exposed for more than €800 million in Iran, boasting a solid relationship with the Central Bank, and is in constant contact with commercial banks and local counterparts, to monitor new business opportunities for Italian companies. The tools provided by Sace will make a difference for Italian companies interested in investing and doing business in Iran: from the traditional credit insurance instruments for exports, to more innovative financial instruments to help FDI, passing by advisory services.” (Red)
