(28 January, 2016) “The image chosen as the emblem of the exhibition presents us with a question: who is really in the cage? What is the cage? Is it there to avoid that birds fly away or rather to protect them from us? The exhibition prepared by De Leonibus is a life journey, as the name itself indicates: ‘Itaca’. And the very sense of journey is often found in his works. Is ‘Itaca’ the final destination? Or has travel shaped so much the artist that he will leave again? Sometimes, a landing is just an aspiration, because the meaning of life calls us always to new journeys and adventures”, explains Luisa Violo, director of the Italian Cultural Institute in Lisbon, while presenting the exhibition “Itaca” by Enzo De Leonibus. Curated by Maurizio Coccia, the showcase opens tomorrow at 7pm in the former chapel of the Institute palace headquarters, where it will remain until March 11. Artist Enzo De Leonibus and Portuguese critic Joao Silverio will both attend opening night. (Red)
