(18 February 2016) A tour for three bikers: Paolo Ferraris, president of GEOforCHILDREN, his brother Alessandro, and Arturo Giustina leave with their bicycles Ronchi dei Legionari, in the municipality of Gorizia, to arrive – 18 days and 2800 kilometers later – in Moscow. The whole bike. The project, entitled “Ride to Moscow”, sees GEOforCHILDREN “give further impetus to its activities, also raising awareness on the conditions in which many Russian children live” explains Paolo Ferrari. The initiative also wants to promote the fund “Una porta per la Vita,” in support of Russian orphans, helping them study, find a job and escape the poverty conditions in which they grew up. “The fund supports Russian children between the ages of 10 and 18, all orphans, who live within institutions and face serious hardships once they have to leave. Data show that 80% of them never really integrates in the community, continuing to live at the margins of society. We want to support them both with economic means and in the delicate transition from life within the institute to life outside with ad hoc training that will enable them to find a job and thus encourage greater integration into the social fabric.”
