(22 February 2016) “Evoked- Architectural Diptychs” is an exhibition that will be inaugurated this afternoon at Fab-University Gallery of Arts in Tirana. Organized by the National Land Planning Agency, the University of Bari and INTBAU Albania (International Network for Traditional Building, Architecture & Urbanism) in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute, the showcase remain open to the public (free admission) until Sunday, March 6. “Evoked” explores the informal residential architectural phenomenon in Albania since 1991. The incompleteness of the buildings and the particular occupation process of the structures reshaped the image of the Albanian landscape, especially on the coast. Today, the unfinished or partially occupied buildings call for a common reflection on the Albanian housing model and its relationship with the landscape. Starting with 16 photos by the Albanian photographer Albes Fusha, 32 Italian and Albanian architects developed their visions. These will give rise to a debate on the theme of informal architecture and the hidden potential of these buildings. Speakers at the opening of the exhibition include different personalities of the political world and beyond. Among these Eglantina Gjermeni, Albanian Minister of Urban Development, the counselor of the Embassy of Italy in Tirana Marcello Cavalcaselle and architects Domenico Pastore and Stefano Boeri.
