(14 March 2016) For years, it brought thousands of young people to Ascea, in the sacred hills of Velia, the cradle of philosophy in Magna Graecia. This year, after the success of the first edition, the Philosophy Festival of Magna Graecia returns to its beating heart, its true homeland: Greece. The second Greek edition of the Festival invited about 500 high school students from all over Italy to participate in workshops, dialogues and philosophical walks that will take place until March 19 in Athens, Corinth and Delphi, on the theme of confrontation and “Philia” (friendship). On Wednesday, March 16, at noon, the auditorium of the Italian Cultural Institute of Athens opens its doors to a press conference that will present the Festival. After the formal opening by Monica Zecca, director of the Institute and cultural attaché of the Embassy of Italy in Greece, Giuseppina Russo and Iriana Marini, respectively president and vice president of the Philosophy Festival of Magna Graecia, will present the program. Salvatore Ferrara, scientific director and responsible for the dialogic analysis of the Festival, will also speak at the event. The project wants to build a bridge between Italy and Greece, becoming a unifying element between Naples and Athens. And precisely Naples will host this May the first celebration of the World Day for Greece, which will pay tribute to Greek artist Belisario Corenzio. (Sip)
