(14 March 2016) March is a very intense month for Puglia’s music, currently starring in some of the world’s major musical events. The Region’s program “Puglia Sounds” is taking part in the SXSW Festival, currently underway in Austin (Texas) until 16 March, and will soon take the stage at Babel Med in Marseille (March 17-19), with a stand dedicated to the promotion of the regional music system, with the presence of artists and music operators from Puglia and showcases by Kalàscima (pictured) and Moustache Prawn. The Salento-natives Kalàscima will perform in both shows: as the only European group at Womex Night during SXSW, an evening entirely dedicated to some of the most interesting artists of the world stage; and as the only Italian group in concert at Babel Med. A double feature that is a great recognition, and an extraordinary opportunity for visibility for the group, one of Puglia’s rising talents on the international stage. The exhibition area of SXSW, which also deals with cinema and innovation and that this year will see the participation of the President of the United States Barack Obama, features Puglia Sounds in the Italy @ SXSW stand (1409 Austin Convention Center) along with the Industry Federation of Italian Music (FIMI) and the Italian Trade Agency, with space dedicated to promoting the Italian music industry. Kalàscima, with their urban neofolk that “regenerates” Salento’s folk sounds, and the young indie Moustache Prawn trio, already known to international operators for their musical at Liverpool Sound City and Hamburg’s Reeperbahn Festival, will perform in the official program of SXSW on March 16-17. From 17-19 March, Puglia Sounds goes to Marseille, for Babel Med, one the main European music fairs. Puglia Sounds will have its own a stand (#27) which will host a large delegation of operators and artists engaged in the promotion of numerous festivals and musical activities. On Saturday March 19 Kalàscima will perform at Chapiteau. (Red)
