(13 April 2016) Now in its eighth edition, Tokyo’s Italia Book Fair is a publishing trade event, focused on Italy in Japanese books. Through Saturday 16 April, the Italian Cultural Institute in Tokyo is hosting various authors and translators, throughout each day 11:00AM-6:00PM. These writers will present their recently published works regarding Italy. This year’s edition commemorates the 150th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Italy and Japan, and will feature as a notable event a screening of Kyō (today at 6:30PM), produced by director Ichikawa Kon, on the initiative of Olivetti. For this event, design objects and posters will be exhibited which illustrate the history. The Institute, which collaborated with C Light Publishing, will also host an exhibit of select illustrated children books. These were recognized previously with the “Itabashi” prize, which is now in its 22nd edition, and which features a section dedicated to books written in Italian. (Red)
