(April, 20th 2016) He is one of the youngest tenors of the Italian opera: born in 1991, Vincenzo Costanzo has already performed in the most important theatres of the world, receiving the praise of both critics and public. For instance at the San Carlo Theatre in Naples or at the Royal Opera House of Covent Garden in London, and again at the Carlo Felice Theatre in Genoa and the Dutch Opera Theatre in Amsterdam. Moreover Costanzo had the opportunity to know and work with internationally renowned filmmakers and conductors, and in 2014 he won the “Oscar of the Opera” (New Generation Tenor Award) in Doha. After the success of his performance in “Madama Butterfly” conducted by Myung-Whun Chung at La Fenice in Venice, he was invited by the same conductor Chung to play the role of Pinkerton in Tokyo. Now the 24 year old Neapolitan tenor is going to debut at the Teatro Real in Madrid with the opera “Luisa Miller” by Verdi, proposed as a concert on April 23rd and 26th. Called to replace Francesco Meli, Costanzo is going to perform again the role of Rodolfo, who he already played in 2013 in Busseto, on the occasion of the bicentennial of the birth of Verdi, after winning the contest Verdi Voices. ” It is an honor to perform such a challenging role in a theatre important as the Madrid one, but it bears also a great responsibility – Costanzo commented – José Carreras was the only one to play the role of Rodolfo in “Luisa Miller” so young, and he is still an important model”. After “Luisa Miller” in Madrid, he will be the protagonist in Verdi’s Traviata staged at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow from May 6th, where he will be the only Italian artist engaged in the production.
