(April 26, 2016) Tonight at 20:30 the young Italian-Chilean designer, Sofia Mendez Schenone, artist in residence programme “The art that will be. Residences of artists of the Italian Cultural Institute in Madrid”, will present her line of ‘Sofia’ and will be engaging with the deputy director of the Spanish Magazine Glamour, Carmen Garijo. The latest collection of Schenone is called “Felen” meaning ‘to be so’ in Mapudungun (language of the Mapuche, one of the indigenous peoples of Chile) and was created during a time of change and personal discoveries for the stylist, a time when she was looking for freedom. Going back to her roots, she combines fabrics from the Chilean plateau such as alpaca wool with various types of leather and sheepskin (vegan) up to the lightness of voile and the richness of velvet, to accompany the woman in ‘Sofia’ in her voyages.
