(17 May 2016) The drama of the migrants told in a theatrical spectacle will be staged on May 18 at the Institute Cultural Institute in Brussels (repeated the following day at the Théâtre de Liège) a reduced version of “Lampedusa beach ” by Lina Prosa and Elisa Lucarelli. The show is sponsored by the Italian Cultural Institute in collaboration with the Teatro Biondo in Palermo, and the Théâtre de Liège. “Lampedusa Beach” is the first of three books that make up the “Shipwreck trilogy ” by Lina Prosa written in 2003. It was produced and staged in 2013 by the Comédie-Française. The Teatro Biondo in Palermo recently produced the entire trilogy, directed by the author. It is an intense monologue on illegal migration through the testimony of Shauba, a young African shipwrecked off the coast of Lampedusa. Swallowed by the sea, Shauba recounts her experience: the dream of a better life, the injustice of the world, but also its primordial relationship with the water and her Mediterranean identity. (Red)
