(20 May 2016) Technology brings Italy and Egypt closer together through Parma. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as part of the Executive Scientific Cooperation Protocol and Italy-Egypt Technology for the years 2016-2018, has reviewed and approved the project “The 3D printing technology in obtaining advanced multifunctional bioceramics” presented in July 2015 by the University of Parma in collaboration with the National Research Centre in Cairo. The scientific coordinator of the entire project – as the university communicates- is Professor Federica Bondioli of the Department of Industrial Engineering, the scientific laboratory that is responsible SuperMat Lab – Advanced Surfaces and materials. The project is scheduled to last two years, and provides financing for the mobility of Italian and Egyptian graduate students and researchers and has as a key argument for manufacturing nanocomposite porous scaffolds with controlled geometry and pore size through 3D printing technologies. The combination of biocompatible polymers and nanoparticles will open new perspectives for the biomedical application of nanostructured materials with improved mechanical properties. (PO / red)
