Rio de Janeiro – The International Volleyball Federation has officially announced today the composition of the pool for the Olympic women’s tournament to be held in Rio de Janeiro from the 6 to 21 August. According to world rankings (as of January 1, 2016) and following the serpentine system the ‘azzurre’ (blue) athletes of Marco Bonitta, they were included in Pool B along with: the US, China, Serbia, the Netherlands and Puerto Rico. The other group (Pool A) consists of: Brazil, Russia, Japan, Korea, Argentina and Cameroon. At the end of the rounds phase, the top four teams from each pool will qualify for the quarter-finals and followed by semi-finals and finals. (9Colonne)
