Erstfeld- Prime Minister, Matteo Renzi, attended the opening of the Gotthard Railway Tunnel, the longest tunnel in the world in Switzerland. “For Renzi’s government upgrading the transportation of rail freight compared to road transportation is a central goal: it means sustainability and efficiency. We are investing a lot for the Italian network and connections with the four European Corridors, so that Italy can be Europe’s southern port in the Mediterranean as its geographical position clearly demonstrates. We wish to double 2015’s number of goods traveling by rail in Italy and to strengthen port systems by 2021. Our country needs an ‘iron therapy’ and ‘water therapy’”, declared by the Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, Graziano Delrio at the inauguration. (9Colonne)
