(June 24, 2016) “Belcantissimo” is scheduled for Tuesday June 28 for the occasion of the 64th “European Week in Passau” (independent city in Germany next to Bavaria). Italian soprano Lucia Aliberti and Bulgarian mezzo-soprano Vesselina Kasarova will be performing in the event. The concert will take place at the Studienkirche of Passau Church (Kirchensteig 4). Festspiele, Europäische Wochen Passau organised the event in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute and the Italian Consulate General in Munich. Taste and music are the focus of the event. Verdi loved French champagne and appreciated organic cultivated food and cherished cuisine from Emilia-Romagna. He once sent some of his business associates a pig’s foot along with a recipe to cook it. He was not the only composer who appreciated good food. Rossini’s passion for the culinary arts is in fact even more renowned: the “Barber of Seville” and “William Tell” loved elegant dinners and rich banquets. To this day, “Tournedos Rossini” are included in the menus of ambitious chefs. Almost every maestro of the Italian Belcanto were gourmet food lovers, they loved a pleasant meals and gastronomy. As a result, their music also melts in one’s palate especially if the world renowned singers Lucia Aliberti and Vesselina Kasarova prepare their menu: for the European Weeks in Passau, the two leading women in Sudienkirche sing Belcanto arias and duets.
