(August 16, 2016) “Matilde of Shabran” (2012, 220 min) is the fourth opera performed in a series of special performances dedicated to Gioacchino Rossini. This is the result of a collaboration between the Italian Cultural Institute of Los Angeles and the Rossini Opera Festival of Pesaro. The event is on August 23 at the Institute. “Matilde of Shabran” is directed by Mario Martone who highlights Rossini’s most scandalous and skilful vocal repertoire. At the beginning of this year, the Los Angeles ICI honoured Martone’s career by awarding him the ICI Lifetime Achievement Award. (Red)
