(21 September 2016) The “Hokusai, Hiroshige, Utamaro. Settings and Faces of Japan” exhibition at the Palazzo Reale in Milan will open on Thursday, 22 September, 18:30. On this occasion, the Japanese noir novel titled “Doromizu. Turbid Waters” by the diplomat Mario Vattani will be presented alongside Giordano Bruno Guerri. The book launch will be held at the Mondador Megastore in Piazza Duomo. The event will also launch the exposition “Splendido Sol Levante” organised by the Mondadori Store. It is a series of events for the 150-year relationship between Italy and Japan. The first Treay of Amity and Commerce between the two countries was signed in 1866, marking the beginning of a bilateral diplomatic relationship between the two countries. The full calendar of Japanese cultural activities organised by Mondadori Stores has obtained the patronage of the Italy-Japan Foundation and have been included in the official calendar of the 150th anniversary celebrations. Vattani comments, “I would like to thank Mondadori Store for this extraordinary opportunity. I am so lucky and honoured to be able to work alongside someone such as Giordano Bruno Guerri and to present Doromizu in such proximity to the Palazzo Reale where the extraordinary Hokusai-Hiroshige-Utamaro exhibition is on display”. Doromizu was published in February 2016 and soon was one of the Italian bestsellers, receiving wide acclaim. Merely two months after its release, Mondadori announced its reprint. The novel was nominated as one of the fifth finalists for the Acqui Terme Award. (Red)
