(September 28, 2016) In recent years, a revolution is taking place among the shelves of Italian libraries, many publishers have given a “shock” to the covers of their historical narrative series using the creativity of a group of Italian illustrators of international fame, renouned the originality of style. The exhibition “Cover Revolution!”, organized by the Italian Institute of culture in New York, map this phenomenon and offers a selection of the best covers of Franco Matticchio, Lorenzo Mattotti, Emiliano Ponzi, Guido Scarabottolo, Gianluigi Toccafondo and Olimpia Zagnoli, illustrators who were able to renew the Italian publishing field, enhancing the evocative potential of books, sometimes considered classics, with unsettling yet effective designs. The exhibition, curated by Melania Gazzotti, will be inaugurated on September 29 at 18 at the Institute of Culture, and will remain open to the public until October 26. The exhibition is accompanied by the book “Cover Revolution! Illustrators and the new face of Italian publishing”(Corraini), also curated by Melania Gazzotti.
