(September 28, 2016) On the afternoon of October 7 in Stuttgart it will be held (Rupert Mayer Haus Hospitalstr. 26), with the collaboration of the Consulate General of Italy, a conference to comment on the new Italian emigration data (particularly on the one directed in Germany) and its qualified component. The initiative has found inspiration in the Institute of Political Studies S. Pio V, who recently edited the book “Qualified Migrations in Italy: research, statistics and perspectives”, with the support of the Idos Centre for the Study and research. During the conference in Stuttgart, the publication will be made available to participants, along with the chapter on Italian emigration that will appear in the next edition of the Statistical Dossier on Immigration. Speakers at the conference, among others, Daniele Perico, Consul General in Stuttgart and Laura Garavini, PD MP elected in the foreign District. The central part of the meeting will be devoted to the debate, with the participation of representatives of associations, charitable and other organizations operating in the world of migration. On January 1 2016 the Italians abroad, registered at the Italian abroad residents (Aire) were 4,811,163 (but according to the consular registers, the most immediate in recording their presence, we must add another 400,000 people, going well over 5 million). Of AIRE subscribers nearly 2 million live in the European Union (1,954,511, so less than Community nationals residing in Italy, which are 1,517,023). The share of Italians living in Germany, compared to the Union, is more than a third (700,855). Two-thirds (66.0%) of Italians who are in Germany are actually emigrated. It is a somwhat higher value than the average that is found among Italians in the EU and 11.5 points compared to the general AIRE membership (52.5%). (Red)
