(5 October, 2016) “Focusing” in psychotherapy indicates the patient’s ability to pay attention to feelings and desires that have not yet been expressed through words. The term was coined thirty years ago in the United States by the therapist and philosopher, Eugene T. Gendlin. Focusing is essentially listening to and understanding body language. It is both a technique and the philosophy of listening to the body’s internal wisdom that guides one to the achievement of new potential. This will be the main topic at a charity event held in Buenos Aires for the victims of the earthquake that hit central Italy in August. The event is sponsored by the Italian Embassy and the Italian Consulate General in Buenos Aires and also benefits from the support of the the City of Buenos Aires and various companies. “Helping others helps me” will be held on October 17 from 19:00 to 21:00 at the Coliseo Theatre. The main topic of the evening will be on the phenomenon of ‘focusing’, a method that allows comfort and well-being to those who practice it. ‘Focusing’ is a psychosomatic self-therapy that relies on the inner wisdom of the body. Our body and brain know a lot more than we are conscious of. With this method, personal problems are elaborated through a series of steps, each one of which is signalled by a precise improvement of somatic symptoms or by the relaxation of tense muscles. The tickets are available through ticketek and the Coliseo Theatre ticket office. The funds will be donated to victims of the earthquake on 24 August. (red)
