(5 October, 2016) Professor Stefano Ondelli will chair a conference in the Federico Fellini room of the Italian Cultural Institute of Budapest on Wednesday 19 October at 18:00. “Which language does Italian fashion speak?” is the topic of the seminar promoted by the ICI. Like cuisine, fashion is universally considered to be one of the greatest means expressions of Italian creativity. Furthermore, like in cuisine, the vocabulary tends to be easily influenced by the French language. However, is this still the case today? Why do we need so many foreign words in a certain ‘Made in Italy’ sector? These are a few questions that Professor Ondelli will attempt to answer. He is an associate professor of Italian linguistics at the University of Trieste. He teaches controlled writing and communication courses at public administrations and in private companies. He has also been involved in teaching the Italian language to foreigners, Italian legal, translation, interpretation, journalism and fashion vocabulary. The conference will take place on 19 October, the 16th edition of the Italian Language in the World Week (October 17-23, 2016) dedicated to Italian creativity and its many brands and to the fashion, costumes, design sectors as in the title “Italian and creativity: brands and costumes, fashion and design”.
