Prague. The Abruzzo Region has participated for the second consecutive year to the Barcolana fair, one of the events that traditionally precedes the historic sailing regatta that is held annually in the Gulf of Trieste on the second Sunday of October. Abruzzo’s stand was installed with the support of the Parks, Reserves and mountain, Public Works, Town Planning, Emigrants and Local Traditions councillor, Donato Di Matteo, to ultimately introduce and promote the area, hospitality and regional products to officials of Slovenia, Croatia, Austria, Germany and the Czech Republic. It is precisely towards Prague, that Di Matteo is looking since he took office in June 2014 and has placed at the respect for natural areas and local traditions on the agenda with the aim to promote Abruzzo’s qualities outside of its borders. It is an operational plan which forms part of the planning directives for the realisation of government actions dictated by the President of the Abruzzo Region, Luciano D’Alfonso, particularly with regards to the link between the advancement of culture and tourist attractions, including landscape and environmental, rural and commercial protection and development.
