Washington. A study from the University of Parma identifies respiratory viruses via mass spectrometry, published in Scientific Reports, a prestigious journal of Nature group. In this study, conducted by Professor Adriana Calderaro with Professors Maria Cristina Arcangeletti, Maria Cristina Medici, Flora De Conto and Carlo Chezzi and with Dr. Isabella Rodighiero, Mirko Buttrini, Sara Montecchini, Rosita Vasile Simone from the Microbiology and Virology Unit of the Department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine, has developed a simple and rapid method for the identification of respiratory viruses via mass spectrometry (MS) for the first time using the “Matrix-assisted laser desorption / ionization-time of flight (MALDI-TOF) technology.” (9Colonne)
