London. The National Institute for Astrophysics (INAF) is in second place in the world rankings for international collaboration and scientific production compiled by the journal Nature. The first place went to the French CNRS taking the lead over INAF by just one percent. INAF comes before CERN in this ranking (third place) and NASA (sixth) also confirms its high ranking in the world in another field, that of international collaborations in the physical sciences, among which is the Italian-US collaboration for the management of the Large Binocular Telescope (LBT) in Arizona, a plant that bears the name of the industrial brand “Made in Italy”. These findings emerge from the document “Nature Collaboration Index 2016”, published online, which has monitored the scientific output of research institutions and universities around the world between September 2015 and August 2016.
