London. Great Britain, in 2016, became the first destination market for Italian prosecco with an export rate on the rise by 38% in the first trimester, effectively surpassing the United States. These are the findings of a Coldiretti analysis on the impacy of Brexit, which will force the British to switch to Parmesan and drinking prosecco instead of cheddar and beer, based on data collected in the first three months of 2016. Coldiretti underlines that 30% of Prosecco bottles are exported towards Great Britain, approximately 1 in 3 bottles. Great Britian is the fourth foreign market for Italian food with an annual worth of 3,2 billion importations from Italy and with a progressive tendency for increase. (9colonne)
