(December 2, 2016) New achievements for the students of Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna of Pisa in prestigious international contexts. One of the recent successes concerns a student of the second year of medical school, Giulio Deangeli, who got the first position to participate in a scientific symposium dedicated to neurodegenerative diseases, with a focus on Parkinson’s disease. The symposium, which was attended by 21 students carefully selected from all over Europe including Giulio Deangeli, was held at the end of their period of study and research at the University of Cambridge, obtained thanks to the scholarship “Amgen Scholar”. The pupil of the Sant’Anna of Pisa was one of the two Italians to have passed the selection for this scholarship and to receive an invitation to attend the symposium where he presented his studies. 21 “Amgen Scholars” scholarships were funded by the namesake US multinational in the field of biotechnology, to ensure to as many “young talents” to spend a period of experimental research in Cambridge and other universities and European research, as Pasteur Institute in Paris, ETH Zurich, Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, LMU in Munich.
