(8 December, 2016) A joint effort for technical and scientific research and initiatives to spread Italian language and culture in the world are the objectives set by the Memorandum of Understanding between the Roma Tre University and the Dante Alighieri Society, signed by Roma Tre’s chancellor, Mario Panizza, and the President of Dante Society, Andrea Riccardi. The agreement establishes the areas of primary action for these objectives along with the realisation of programmes for distance learning Italian language, the formulation of educational materials and media for teaching and implementation of scientific and cultural activities. Moreover, thanks to a cooperative project sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Italian-Latin American Institute, Roma Tre is already working on creating an online Italian Language and Culture platform at the Facultad de Lenguas extranjeras of the Universidad de La Habana: a project which, thanks to the Convention, can benefit from the Cuban Dante Alighieri society. According to Riccardi, “With this agreement, w will strengthen the synergy that already exists within the CLIQ which the Dante Alighieri Society and Roma Tre already belong to. In terms of Italian language teaching, we aim for excellence, aware that it is only through high quality can it be a driving force for the development of culture and the Italian presence abroad. ” (Red)
