(23 December, 2016) Leonardo Bellaspiga’s exhibition titled “Sulle ali della bora: viaggio al cospetto del drago. Immagini tra Trieste e Lubiana” (On the wings of the wind: A journery alongside a dragon. Images of Trieste and Ljiubjiana), arrives at the Italian Cultural Institute in Ljiubjiana after touring in Italy, Montenegro and along the Slovenian coast. It is a journey through time and space that reinterprets panoramas, cities, villages, and historical monuments from Trieste to Ljiubjiana. The exhibition, which has been organised by the Italian Cultural Institute in collaboration with the University of Trieste and the Italian Union, is curated by Ariella Petelin and will remain open until 3 February. This exhibition was inspired by Bellaspiga’s love for Istria and Dalmatia. The select themes range from the latticework of Venetian bell towers to the powerful Roman ruins, from the smell of windy beaches to the stone houses of the hinterland. Bellaspiga’s exhibition takes on a different form at each step. The different sites contribute to new works of art. Unique to the exhibition in Ljiubjiana, however, are Bellaspiga’s new ink drawings dedicated to the city.
