(11 January 2017) The Department of Information Engineering of the University of Parma is the leader of the new European project “Saferun” (Secure And Fast Real-Time Planner for Autonomous Vehicles – http://www.ce.unipr.it/saferun) coordinated by Professor Corrado Guarino Lo Bianco. The aim is to develop a new methodology for Laser Guided Vehicles (LGV). The project is part of the European Echord ++ research project (The European Coordination Hub for Open Robotics Development – http://echord.eu) which promotes the interaction between robot manufacturers, researchers, and users. The new planning method proposed aims at increasing the level of safety and improve the overall performance of LGVs in the environments in which they operate that they share with other vehicles or people.
