(13 January 2017) A man who comes from the mountains and that helps those who flee to cross a boundary finds himself in a seaside town facing the delicate restoration of the nudity of a Christ marble. With “La natura esposta” (exposed nature) (Feltrinelli, 2016), Erri de Luca returns to writing novels. De Luca will present the book in Munich at an event organised by the Italian Cultural Institute on 26 January at 18.30. Between 1983 and 1984 he volunteered in Tanzania, in former Yugoslavia during the war, and in the 1990s he drove humanitarian convoys trucks. His first novel, “Non ora, non qui” (Not Now, Not Here) was published in Italy in 1989. His books have been translated into more than 30 languages. He taught himself Swahili, Russian, Yiddish and ancient Hebrew, and translated some parts of the Old Testament. (Red)
