(January 24, 2017) Italy ever closer to Sudan. New possibilities for commercial and financial agreements are in the pipeline. An important signal comes from the International Fair of Khartoum, the leading trade fair of the country aimed at an international audience of companies interested in undertaking business initiatives and forms of economic cooperation with the Sudanese companies. The Italian pavilion was inaugurated yesterday: in the presence of the Director for African countries of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Min. Raffaele de Lutio Vice President of Sudan Bakri Hassan Saleh cut the tricolor ribbon. “There could be no better start for an initiative that every January for a week conveys a significant number of Italian companies looking for first partnerships with the Sudanese parties”, said in a note the Embassy. The 34th edition of the International Fair, a crucial appointment for the exchange and promotion between Sudan and the European countries, Arabs, Africans and Latin Americans, will run until 30 January. Italy was represented by Khartoum Electric Industries, Ortea, Italfarad, BDF Industries, Caprari, Pentax and Fiorentini. Another new feature was the presence of officials of the Italian-Arab Chamber of Commerce, whose renewed interest in Sudan bodes well for operating a reputational positive domino effect among the institution’s members based in Rome. For a week the Italian Embassy will facilitate B2B meetings and opportunities for exchange between the Italian participants , the public and private Sudanese institutions. But project are already being developed: “The next crucial event – remembers, in fact, the Italian ambassador to Sudan, Fabrizio Lobasso – is an economic Italian-Sudanese business forum in Khartoum during last decade of April. The Sudanese there have asked this with excitement and we are determined to take this opportunity and to continue to bring the best of Italian enterprise in Sudan, maybe for the occasion led by some high institutional position. We have to speed up, we are already working on that”, concludes Lobasso. (Red)
