Vienna. “An important and effective building block towards a strong and innovative commercial partnership capable of triggering multiple benefits for our respective territories”. This was underlined by the President of the Friuli Venezia Region, Giulia Debora Serracchiani who introduced the presentation of the Trieste Harbour in Metternich Palace, seat of the Italian Embassy in Vienna, organised by the Port Authority in collaboration with the Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia and the Italian-German Chamber of commerce. It is an event to mark how – with a solid alliance – Trieste and Vienna can fully recover their traditional central role in the European and Mediterranean Economic Area. The renewal of this pact coincides (not randomly) the anniversary of construction (1857-2017) of the Südbahn Vienna-Trieste – the Southern railway line between Vienna and Trieste that passes through Austria, Slovenia and Italy.
