Madrid – The results of the ESI project (European Sweet Itineraries) were recently showcased in Madrid – three educational programmes in the confectionery industry in Spain, Portugal and Italy. The final portion of the ESI presentation event “ESI – European Sweet Itineraries” was held on February 8th, at the European Commission branch in Madrid financed by the European COSME programme and coordinated by the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Portugal. ESI is a project centred on the development of three educational programmes in the confectionery industry in Spain, Portugal and Italy, aimed at young people between the ages of 17 and 19 who study in vocational schools in the tourism and restaurant industry. During the course of this event, the director of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Lisbon and project coordinator Marcello Menichetti presented the three routes developed under the project. Each of these includes activities related to the local food tradition and, in particular, with pastry and artisan workshops intertwined with cultural routes through historical town centres of the select locations.
