ZhengZhou – Developments continue for “Saturnalia” – a system that estimates the quality of wines through the careful analysis of satellite data. Daniele De Vecchi – a researcher from the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Information Technology at the University of Pavia under Professor Fabio Dell’Acqua – brought the “Saturnalia” system to the Chinitaly Challenge semi-finals. Saturnalia is a system for predicting the quality of wines oriented towards buyers and investors of high quality and high value wine. The system is based on measurements of ground and satellite critical parameters in the production areas of fine wines. The idea was proposed to “Chinitaly Challenge” – an initiative of “PoliHub” to bring a selection of Italian innovations to the Chinese market. “Saturnalia” was chosen for the semi-finals that will be held in Zhengzhou – the capital of the Chinese Henan province in China – on May 27th. De Vecchi was invited to attend and present Saturnalia which could find a privileged access to the Chinese market. Thanks to an idea originating in Italy, it could mean an enormous potential for development in the Asian market. (9Colonne)
