Beirut – It will be held on Sunday May 21 in Tripoli, 80 kilometers north of Beirut, Vivicittà in Lebanon, with the participation of a thousand children between the ages of 8 and 13. Some of them are housed in Palestinian refugee camps, others come from schools in Tripoli and others are still welcomed in the shelter, spontaneous makeshift camps. Tripoli was chosen because it is the second city of Lebanon by number of inhabitants and is close to the border with Syria. This is the first time that Vivicittà runs in Tripoli and the event is organized by Uisp and the Italian Agency for Cooperation and Development, in collaboration with Unrwa-Onu Agency for Palestinian Refugees. The race will start at 9:30 am (8:30 am Italian) on Sunday May 21 at the Tripoli Fair, a kind of national monument designed by Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer, which was unfinished due to the civil war. The slogan of the race will be “Run for growing together” and will end the cycle of the 2017 edition of Vivicittà. The event is part of the international solidarity activities that Uisp has been promoting in Lebanon since 2007. (9colonne)
