(6 June 2017) “I extended an invitation to Prime Minister Zvizdic on behalf of the Italian President Gentiloni to the Western Balkans Summit, in Trieste on July 12th. The Trieste Summit will be an important opportunity to confirm the European perspective of the Western Balkans, including Bosnia and Herzegovina at the highest level, and to concretely demonstrate, thanks to funding of new infrastructure projects, Europe’s ongoing commitment to the development of this region. I also informed Prime Minister Zvizdic that in parallel to the Summit, Italy will host a meeting between the Italian National Anti-Corruption Authority and its counterparts in the six Western Balkan countries. This is a further testimony of Italy’s concrete commitment to the Western Balkans on promoting the rule of law and the fight against organised crime and corruption, in addition to the finalisation of a Memorandum of Understanding between the respective High Councils of the Judiciary and the existing co-operation between their respective law enforcement agencies and the public prosecutor’s office in the fight against organised crime and terrorism” stated Italian Ambassador, Nicola Minasi at the end of his meeting with Prime Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Zvizdic.
