Mattmark – “Memory is timeless. Today, as then, the memory, the pain, the gratitude for the many Belluno people fallen in one of the main tragedies of the working emigration that saw the Veneto people protagonists, must be alive in our hearts. ” With these words, the President of the Veneto Region, Luca Zaia, remembers the 17 workers from various locations in Belluno who lost their lives on August 30, 1965, under the avalanche that invested the yard for the construction of a dam at Mattmark, on the Swiss glacier Allalin.
