It’s been 49 years since that fateful 30 August 1965, when the collapse of the Allalin glacier caused the death of 88 people working on the construction of the Mattmark dam (Switzerland). Of those 88, 56 were Italian. The Comites Valais and the Italian community, this year like every year since, have decided to honor August 30 by meeting at the foot of the glacier to pay their respects with a religious ceremony.
