Astana. The project of the Bicocca University of Milan is to ensure clean water to the inhabitants of the island of Magoodhoo in the Maldives. It was presented during the international seminar “future energy in environmental development cooperation. The Italian contribution” at the Italian pavilion in the 2017 Astana Expo. Paolo Galli (Professor of Ecology), Maurizio Acciarri (Experimental Physics Professor) and Marco Cavallotti (Vicar General Director) participated in the talk “An integrated approach to supplying drinking water in Maldives” illustrating the project to instal a water desalination plant able to provide drinking water to the 850 inhabitants of Magoodhoo (Faafu atoll), where the MaRHE Research and Training Center for the study of new sustainable development solutions is located. The action plan for the plant was born from the collaboration between the Bicocca University of Milan, the Italian and Maldivian Government. It was then discussed and shared with the inhabitants of Magoodhoo. (9colonne)
