Oslo. Leonardo announced the delivery to the Norwegian Ministry of Justice and Public Security of the first 16 SAR (Search and Rescue) AW101 helicopters. On November 17th, the first shipment of AW101 left Leonardo’s factory in Yeovil, United Kingdom for the Sola air base in southern Norway, where they will begin a trial period and operational assessments before joining the Norwegian Military Air Force in 2018. Deliveries will continue until 2020 and helicopters will be distributed to over six different operating bases. (9Colonne)
