Marseilles. An event featuring the author Carlo Lucarelli on Monday, April 9th (18:30 – 20:00) at the Italian Institute of Culture of Marseille for the publication of “Il tempo delle iene” (Le temps des hyènes), Edizioni Métailié, (translated into French, Paris, 2017) – in collaboration with the University of Avignon and the Le Métailié publishing house. Serge Quadruppani (writer and translator) and Claudio Milanesi (University Professor, director of the CAER Laboratory of the University of Aix-Marseille), are also speakers at the event. Born in Parma in 1960, Lucarelli is one of the masters of the Italian crime novel. As an Italian chronicler, set designer, and playwright, he has published numerous novels, detective stories, thrillers, and investigative books, including some best-sellers. He wrote scenarios for comics and conducted the famous TV programme “Blu Notte – Misteri italiani”. “Il tempo delle iene” is set in Eritrea, immediately after the defeat of Adua (1896). Between pipe dreams of enrichment and stock market speculation, lost love dreams and murderous follies, fatal women and adventurers who met Arthur Rimbaud, the story unfolds like the meanders of a great river under the African sun.
