Toronto. Laura Luchetti is the only Italian director participating in the Toronto film festival. “Fiore Gemello” is her second feature film and is about the love story of two teenagers, Anna and Basim. He is an illegal African immigrant, she is the daughter of a migrant smuggler. It will be premiered worldwide in the Discovery category on Sunday September 8th. Luchetti stands out among the selections of great Italian directors namely Garrone, De Angelis, Sorrentino, and Minervini. The film was selected at the Cannes Film Festival and the Sundance Screenwriters Lab. With the opportunity to be featured at the Toronto festival, Laura is the last member of the trio of Italian directors; Laura Bispuri in Berlin and Alice Rohrwacher in Cannes after which international cinema will increase its expectations. In recent years, Luchetti has made short films that have won awards in various international film festivals, music videos, and advertisements. “Sugarlove” her latest animation project will be featured at the Venice Film Festival as a Special Event of the Critics’ Week.
