Toulouse. The ancient port of Pisa, “Portus Pisanus” – a controversial location and many confused by many with the fluvial port of San Rossore that has returned to us the extraordinary Roman ships – has been found and connected to the evolution of the Santo Stefano Lupi lagoon, a town near Livorno in the south of Coltano. The discovery is the result of a multidisciplinary approach that involved geological, and historical and archaeological data, published in a study on “Scientific Reports”. The geo-archaeological research, coordinated by David Kaniewski from the University of Toulouse, saw the participation of the scholars of the University of Pisa, Monica Bini, Marinella Pasquinucci, and Giovanni Sarti, and with Veronica Rossi from the University of Bologna.
