New York – The two Amelia Rosselli are the protagonists of the event that tonight, at the Italian Institute of Culture in New York at 18:00 celebrates their lives and work. Marina Calloni and Jennifer Scappettone will be the speakers. The Rossellis were respectively mother and daughter of the anti-fascist leader Carlo Rosselli, founder of one of the first anti-fascist movements, “Giustizia e Libertà” (Justice and Liberty). Mussolini had declared Rosselli “the most dangerous political opponent of the regime”. After escaping from confinement on the island of Lipari, Carlo Rosselli went to Paris where he joined his wife Marion Cave, a British political activist. In 1930 his daughter Amelia was born in exile. Amelia’s grandmother, and mother of Carlo, Amelia Rosselli (born Amelia Pincherle) was born in Venice in 1870. She was a dramatist, translator, and activist in the nascent women’s movement, as well as a children’s book author. (9Colonne)
