(Apr. 3) – “I am not in line with most of the people who chose to move outside Italy.” That’s how begins a chat with Danilo Morlando . Ligurian, born in 1978, graduated at the Polytechnic Institute of Milan and three years spent as outlier between Shanghai and Italy. Now he is manager of a Chinese manufacturing company:” I studied mechanical engineering, focusing on energy. After finishing my studies in early 2004, I was hired by the company where I work today, a company in the manufacturing sector, working as a mechanical designer. After just over a year, I started to give technical assistance to customers. It was this the beginning of my experience around the world. For a short time – continues the young engineer – I have been busy with a Japanese company, and then back to the Chinese one, as Head of Service in Italy and abroad. In early 2009, I was responsible for monitoring the start-up and development of a new company in China, an activity that took me almost three years. Today I continue to take care of the Chinese plant.” Danilo has a very busy life and he admits he has encountered some difficulties at the beginning of his experience in the East: “The first time I was in China I encountered two main difficulties: food and mentality. I gradually solved the first problem getting used to the flavors but the second one is probably unsolvable: you learn how Chinese people think but it is hard to understand their way.” “I’m sorry to receive so many resumee of Italians who want to work in China – says Morlando with a hint of disappointment – I would like to see all these people working in Italy and not seeking glory elsewhere.” (Gil/Peg)
