(Apr. 13) – “I’ve been living outside Italy for three years. I spent a year in France, in Marseille, working on my Master’s thesis, and the, after my degree in Naples, I went to Rio de Janeiro. After three months, I came back to Italy just to pack my stuff and obtain all the documents.” So speaks Anna De Falco, an Italian biotechnologist who has been living in Brazil since 18 months. “I’m attending a degree in environmental toxicology,” tells Anna, 28 year, graduated in Environmental Molecular Biotechnology at the University Federico II in Naples. “Living abroad it’s never easy. It’s hard to be far from your family and friends, but I’m happy with my new life. ” She is pleased by the choice she made and abroad – as she says – she struck a balance: “I think I won’t come back to Italy because I have no future, no opportunities at home. To be honest, I don’t like the idea of Italian people here in Brazil. Sometimes the Brazilians take me not so seriously because of my origin, even if there is a general respect for European people.” (Gil/Peg)
