(Apr. 16) Until August 27, in the Leopold Museum in Vienna will be held the exhibition ‘Klimt persönlich’, dedicated to the great master Gustav Klimt, the maximum expression of Art Nouveau. The exhibition will feature three important mosaics from Ravenna, granted by the City of Ravenna as a testimony of the visit by Klimt, attracted by the Byzantine mosaics in Rimini. To emphasize the precious mosaics, in recent days, the City of Ravenna, in collaboration with the ENIT Agency of Vienna, has organized a presentation of tourism offer in Ravenna, entitled ‘Parole e visioni per una città – Ravenna raccontata da Dante, Klimt, Byron, James, Jung e Borges’. The exhibition, inaugurated on February 23 at the presence of President of the Republic of Austria, Heinz Fischer, has already registered over 40 thousand visitors. In the section ‘Das Erlebnis Ravenna’ there are the portraits of the Empress Theodora, of Justinian and Maximian, which give testimony of the experience of one of two trips that Klimt did in the city of Ravenna in 1903. As the exhibition catalog explains, those mosaics influenced the Klimt’s ‘golden age’. (Red/Peg)
